Still waiting for AI that can read my mind and write this for me—but until then, here’s my evolving WWDC26 wishlist.

System-wide model flexibility
When will Chinese LLMs or other regional models be accessible at the OS level? Right now it’s mostly OpenAI, with Gemini or Anthropic possibly next. Apple should let users plug in any OpenAI/Anthropic-compatible endpoint with their own API key. Even better, expose this like browser devtools—advanced users can override defaults and route requests however they want.

Siri as a reliable assistant, not just another chatbot
A new Siri is expected, but it should not become just another hallucination-prone chatbot. Siri should prioritize trust, task execution, and deep system integration across the Apple ecosystem. It can orchestrate multiple models behind the scenes, but the core experience should remain focused: dependable, actionable, and assistant-first.

Xcode + AI-native developer workflows
Will Xcode evolve to include a CLI-style coding agent like Claude Code or Codex? Apple could go further by offering automatic migration tools—e.g., intelligently converting legacy Objective-C projects to Swift, with suggested fixes and modernization steps.

Agentic control: open vs curated
Would users trust fully agentic control like Google might enable on Android? Or is Apple’s curated approach—via Shortcuts, Automator, and AppleScript—the better model? There’s room for a middle ground: controlled, auditable agent access to system functions without sacrificing safety.

iCloud storage pricing
Storage and bandwidth costs have dropped significantly, yet consumer cloud pricing has barely changed in years. It’s time for Apple to expand storage tiers or improve pricing to reflect current economics.

Prosumer AI stack: MLX and beyond
With Nvidia pushing a US-led AI stack, can Apple push MLX and its own ecosystem forward? There’s a real opportunity to empower prosumers with efficient, local-first, open-weight models optimized for Apple Silicon.

Authenticated media
Will Apple introduce a way to cryptographically verify that a photo was taken on a specific device? Not identity tracking, but content authenticity. This could be a major step in combating synthetic media—if users are ready for it.

Opening up iMessage
With RCS now supported, is it time to go further? Apple could provide APIs for encrypted messaging interoperability with RCS-compatible devices. Keep blue bubbles if needed, but enable richer, programmable, and even agent-driven messaging across platforms.#WWDC26

Less screen time
Apple is good at actively pushing users to the next thing in a few years. Is it about time to start pushing users away from looking at screens all day long? Apple Watch and Airpods can be great to reduce screen time needs. Maybe some kind of smart ai to only to solve the notifications for me. Not when the app developers wanting to catch my attention, but only when my ai agent consider that I should be alerted to the notification.
