Digital components can be quite fragile. Imagine putting your computer on wheels and move it around at high speed for a few hours each day. How many years can it last even with annual servicing?
I have a license, don’t drive, don’t have a Tesla and don’t plan to get one. But I can imagine how much fun it is to have it as a toy. A computer with wheels. It’s the coolest thing until we have all have fully programmable SLAM robots around the house.
My worry is that how long can it be cool for? For most people, they are not going to buy a new car every 2-3 years. Average Age of Vehicles on the Road is Approaching 12 Years. So what will it be like to drive the same Tesla in 12 years time? Will the computer be fast enough to play 8k content then? 6G compatible? Will the computer hardware still be stable? Will annual servicing of the car be enough to ensure safety?
