If you get “Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo” when using yum, it’s because CentOS is EOL and not they removed support for it on June 30, 2024.
They moved the files to a vault and can’t expect it to be there forever. But the temporary fix is to point all the references to the http://vault.centos.org.
I just followed the steps here https://www.tecmint.com/fix-cannot-find-a-valid-baseurl-for-repo/
“nano /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo”; copy and pasted their CentOS-Base.repo file; then “yum update”.
# CentOS-Base.repo
#
# The mirror system uses the connecting IP address of the client and the
# update status of each mirror to pick mirrors that are updated to and
# geographically close to the client. You should use this for CentOS updates
# unless you are manually picking other mirrors.
#
# If the mirrorlist= does not work for you, as a fall back you can try the
# remarked out baseurl= line instead.
